Nostra Aetate Observance 25 October 2015

nostra aetate

Nostra Aetate, a ground-breaking Catholic document on interfaith relations, was promulgated 50 years ago on 28 October 1965. While it was significant for this positive and open stance toward interfaith dialogue between Catholic and all world religions, it has been especially important in creating a new era of dialogue and growing relations between Catholics and Jews.  On, Sunday, 25 October 2015 at 1:30 pm, the Congregation Kahal Kadosh Beth Elohim on 90 Hasell Street will host a special event marking the 50th anniversary of this document. Jewish theologian Michael Kogan, Ph.D. will give an opening talk followed by a panel of leaders including Bishop Robert Guglielmone discussing their appreciation of the document and how they have seen inter-religious relations fostered locally over the years. A reception will follow at St. Mary of the Annunciation Parish across the street. All Catholics are encouraged to attend.
