UPDATE 3 October 2015

The “Thanks Joe!” event has been postponed due to the inclement weather. Please check www.thanksjoe.org for updates on the rescheduled date.

This Weekend! 4 October!!!

The celebration begins with a FREE, fun, family gathering at Brittlebank Park from 3 – 7 p.m. Amidst festive arts and entertainment, there will be multiple opportunities for attendees to mingle with the Mayor, take selfies with him, sign the epic “The Book of Joe” memento, shake the Mayor’s hand and say “Thanks, Joe!”
The celebration continues into an unforgettable evening at Joe Riley Park, featuring music, surprises, fireworks and more. Admission to the evening event will be $5. Tickets for the evening event are available through www.ThanksJoe.org, www.Riverdogs.com, or at the Joe Riley Park box office.
Plans include the very best homegrown talent, as a wide variety of non-stop entertainment will be offered at Brittlebank. Three stages will host music, comedy, theater and dance acts, while roving performers will engage attendees with close-up magic, juggling, stilt walking and balloon art. A bevy of tents will showcase local artists and traditional Lowcountry craftsmen. Organizations including the South Carolina Aquarium, American College of the Building Arts, local museums and many more will be on hand to create fun activities that reflect on all Mayor Riley has helped create in Charleston.
Guests can pack a picnic lunch or dine with one of a myriad of food trucks on site while local musicians and performance artists create energy and interest across every inch of the park. There will undoubtedly be plenty to see and do, including taking in views of the Ashley River from a 50-foot Ferris wheel.
Attendees are also encouraged to bring a favorite picture or story to place in “The Book of Joe” which is sure to be a treasured keepsake for the Mayor. Photos can be scanned or downloaded during the event, and there will be photo and video testimonial booths for sharing Joe stories.
