In cooperation with Pope Francis’ intentions 19 November, we ask that all parishioners bring a non-perishable food item to fill up our St. Vincent de Paul pantry, which is needed especially as we approach the holiday season. World Day of the Poor was established as an initiative rising from the Year of Mercy as a way to encourage encounters, friendship, solidarity and concrete assistance to the poor. Thank you for your generosity.
100th Anniversary of Our Lady of Fatima! In a continuation of the celebration of the 100th anniversary of the apparitions of Our Lady at Fatima, the Cathedral will have the statue of Our Lady of Fatima displayed for veneration the 12-14th of each month through October.
This is a great opportunity to obtain the plenary indulgence granted by Pope Francis for the centennial year. There are three ways to obtain the indulgence, detailed in a statement from the Fatima Shrine in Portugal (see below).
To obtain the plenary indulgence, the faithful must also fulfill the ordinary conditions: go to Confession and Communion, be interiorly detached from sin, and pray for the intentions of the Holy Father.
Bring Our Lady to Your Home for a Visit!
If you would like to have a special week in your home venerating Our Lady of Fatima, you may sign up to have this beautiful statue in your home. A sign-up sheet is at the back of the church, or contact Patricia Bascom at (843) 367-7007.
