The Taylor Music group will perform will perform choral selections that venerate prominent saints, including the Hymn to St. Cecilia by Benjamin Britten. The concert will include a performance of the deeply spiritual Durufle Requiem, dedicated to the victims and families of the Mother Emanuel tragedy. Please join us at the 11:15 am Mass on Sunday, 1 November, All Saints’ Day as the Cathedral Choir sings William Byrd’s Mass for Four Voices.
William Byrd (c. 1540-1623) composed this Mass setting in the 1590s during the height of the English Reformation. The publication date is difficult to pin point as it is believed Byrd did no publish all parts together in order to make it easier to distribute for the celebration of Masses held in secret in homes. Join us at the 11:15am Mass on Sunday , 1 November 2015 to experience this fantastic Mass setting!
The Cathedral of St. John the Baptist will take up a second collection on 24 & 25 October for aid to all those in South Carolina who were affected by the floods on 3-5 October. Your generosity is greatly appreciated. Please continue to keep all the victims in your prayers.
