Please join us at the 11:15 am Mass on Sunday, 1 November, All Saints’ Day as the Cathedral Choir sings William Byrd’s Mass for Four Voices.
William Byrd (c. 1540-1623) composed this Mass setting in the 1590s during the height of the English Reformation. The publication date is difficult to pin point as it is believed Byrd did no publish all parts together in order to make it easier to distribute for the celebration of Masses held in secret in homes.
